Mario Armengol was fascinated by the infinite possibilities of paper sculpture - using one sheet of paper to create a 3-D animal or bird or human face. Over many years he had sent hand-made cards to friends and family. He discovered that nobody ever threw them away; rather they built up collections and framed them! This charming talent turned into a commercial enterprise when Gallery 5, a significant company in the increasingly profitable 'greetings cards' industry, commissioned a series of paper animal sculptures which were marketed and sold globally. Even though these were printed - people STILL didn't throw them away ... a testament to their appeal and creative ingenuity.
